Hi folks,

Here's a little tool program to help your roulette betting sessions. ;D

You might get rich - or you could lose - be careful.

There are several channels on TV and the Web, streaming live Roulette each night.

All you do with this program is click on the winning numbers as they occur at each spin of the wheel.

The program does a bit of calculation in the background, and suggests when might be a good time to place a bet.

Then it's down to Lady Luck ..  ::)

best wishes, :)

Hi GWS,

Great, but the comments in the program
are to far to the right. Some are off the
page.

Hello Bill,

I'm puzzled .. do you mean some of the screen is not displaying in the window correctly, or that the Word document notes in the zip file have lines extending off the edge of the screen.

The program uses 'getscreensize' to set the width and height, and on my machine this is 1024x768.  It looks OK at that setting.

Maybe you run at a different screen resolution.  Let me know and I'll look into it ..

all the best, :)

GWS,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

Sorry for the confusion. I use Total Commaner,
and have for years. The lister lets me view
all sorts of files. And I usually view files I
download.

I viewed the roulette.cba file, and that is
where the comments were so out of whack.
I read the file in UltraEdit and it was just fine.
And, there is nothing wrong with the Work
doc file; checked with Word 2007.

Again, no problems.

Glad you're OK Bill ..  :)

Actually, there was a problem .. I really must take more care with using screen resolutions.

For anyone trying it at 1280x1024, it would go horribly wrong ..  ::)

I've re-posted a version which hopefully should work.

It's difficult to write a program that will work at all resolutions - control positions change, font sizes need altering, images re-sizing - it's a nightmare.

It may be easier to write two versions - one for 1024x768 and one for 1280x1024 - at least that should be OK for most people.  ;D

Best wishes, :)

GWS,

BTW, I miss England. Out of two tours,
I spent 7 years there. Both were at
RAF Chicksands, about 12 miles from
Bedford in Bedfordshire. I live in Bedford
both times. Spent two weeks in Cornwall
two times; loved the beach at St. Ives.

Oh, it was amazing to stand in the priory
on the base (over 900 years old) and to
look up at painted ceiling the monks had
done. You cannot do the in the US.

Before I forget, I am retired US Air Force.

Ta Ta,

Bill

GWS

Ah .. the much admired USAF ..  :)

Very pleased to meet you here Bill ..

I wonder if these pics will evoke any memories ..

all the best, :)

Following the strategy in the above post, I had one losing bet (it had to happen eventually) on a yellow light bet, but recovered it on the next bet.  Then had another straight win on a yellow light.

So far, so good ..  ;D

There's only been one comment on this thread so far - am I the only one who finds this application a bit interesting?  ;D ;D

best wishes, :)

Hey, I'm finding it.
I'm waiting for the news trips to Monte Carlo.
And I assume you like your martinis "shaken" and not "stirred"
Bond, James Bond.
;D ;D

Graham, what I like most is seeing you having some fun!

Graham,

Best of luck with the roulette program. I have to admit, I didn't understand it at all!

I think the last time I gambled anything was 50p on the Grand National about
20 years ago!

OK - time I think, to draw a wavy line under this thread ..

In the short term the program seems to be working. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else tries it out ..

I'll return to it some time in the future to report success or failure.

Meanwhile, back to programming ..  ;D

all the best, :)

Oops ! .. my little system has folded ..  :(

It was doing so well .. and then an incredible sequence of 16 even numbers, wrecked it.

I still made a small profit though, and I've closed my account.

Fun while it lasted ..  ::)

best wishes, :)

Sorry to hear that it did not last.  You will just have to come up with another system to try.

On another note, your program inspired me to try and write a Roulette program.  I am in the last phases of testing.  When I get it completed, I am planning on sharing it with the group.

Bill
When all else fails, get a bigger hammer.

GWS

That sounds like fun Bill ..  ;D

Hi folks,

I've updated this program, and posted the new version in the first post above. ;D

It's mainly a demo of what CB can do - but it does work in action on a real roulette site.

Maybe some bits of the code will prove useful to someone.

I've finished up so far with several hundred pounds (having lost some occasionally) safely in the bank.
However it is a risky business, so don't bet more than you can afford to wave goodbye to.

The thing that kills this system is when a run of 10 occurs (rare, but it does happen) of the even money bets Red/Black, Odd/Even or High/Low numbers.

I've found that runs of 10 occur on commercial gambling sites more often than you'd expect - funny that - but they have huge computers working against you, and they want your money.  ::)

best wishes, :)

Graham
