Hi folks,

Creative Basic has been around for 10 years now (if you include it's original form IBasic Standard).  It's well proven.

Computers and operating systems have moved on since I first used this little development system on Windows 95.

So is it outdated ? - not at all 

I've just loaded CBasic Version 1.0 on to a new computer running Windows 7, 64 bit.

I've tried several programs including 2D examples, and they're running fine.

I only had to make one change when trying to run the 3D example programs.

Microsoft are now not including  d3drm.dll  in the Windows installation. This is the dynamic link library for Direct3D Retained Mode, so you need to get hold of a copy.

Just copy this to the c:\windows\System32 folder if you're running Windows 7, 32 bit  -  or to the c:\windows\SysWOW64 folder if you're running Windows 7, 64 bit.

Then everything works fine - good for another 10 years ..

Is it legal to put the missing dll in the install package for everybody?
