Sub-classing Statusbar

Hi,

I have a program with a statusbar, and at particular times I am changing the background colour of the statusbar, depending on which button has been pressed

All OK so far . . .

But if I include a manifest file with the program, the colouring fails. Does anyone know how to sub-class the statusbar to still allow me to have a manifest file? Any code?
