Hello,

Is there some trick to using the "debugger?"  I did a search for that term on the forum, but it returned zero results.

Also, for the last three weeks I have tried to not be a burden by wearing out the board with questions, but I found the "help" files and manuals to be significantly lacking.

Perhaps this is all just some lack of understanding on my part, but I need some help in understanding "how" to use the debugger, help, etc.  If I am not as senile as IWBASIC has made me feel and others have suffered my same aggravation, please let me know so I can stop trying to connect dots that don't match up.

Thanks in advance,
Calvin

Assuming you have read the help file section, IDE Topics/Debugging Programs, what is the specific question you have?
EDIT:
QuoteI did a search for that term on the forum, but it returned zero results.
I searched for debugger and got 4 pages of hits
I searched for debug and got 11 pages of hits
In both searches I got the tutorial on the debugger written for aurora but really applicable to both for the most part.

Ok... then something else is mopped.  I just did another search and the *only* two results were our two posts!   :o

Any ideas??

I figured it out.  The "Search Box" at the top of each page only searches within *that* pages topic.  To search wider requires "zooming" out to the necessary scope.  This is really a good way to set up a search, but it sure is helpful to know that is the way it works.  :)

yes....
using the search box below your avatar picture is a relative search
i.e.. if you are currently within a topic it will only search within that topic.

what I do out of habit is click the home button before I use that search box and it searches the entire forum

I don't know if that is specifically covered in the Simple Machines Forum software help file which you can get to with the Help button to the right of the Home button below the search box.

I'm sure you read all that -  I never have! ;)
