Well, here was a deal I ran across and once I verify that I can output to direct x and 3ds and that things will work in Aurora, I will place my order and wanted to share this find
with those who might want to get into 3d.

You get truespace and the video courses!!

If anyone has or used this version and you know about its direct x and 3ds export features, I would doubt if they had the md2, md3 exports and if you tested an export out that you could open in with Aurora.

Looks like a good deal.  Let us know what you find out.

Well you cant grumble for $20. Thats is next to nothing. Im quite happy with 3D max at the moment, as i have just spent a lot of time learning it lol

I sent an email to Caligari tonight, so hope to hear back in a day or 2.

3d Max is nice, the panda exporter works well in it. If you use it, I got my x file working by making sure the textures were output as jpgs, even if you just use diffuse colors from within the material editor. Usually that info doesn't need the textures as separate files, but that is the way I got that file to load by doing that, and by that file I mean the aurora.x file I made, that could be that I collapsed multiple objects into one mesh before exporting. A simple cube worked ok output with no textures using just the max diffuse colors. If that turns out to be the case then maybe exporting with 3ds will be the way to go. AS you need the textures with that anyways but the file size of the mesh is so much smaller.

I got a reply back from Caligari:

QuoteThank you for your interest in trueSpace4.3. However trueSpace4.3 does not support animated model export to microsoft's direct x format which is the latest format and which was not available when trueSpace4.3 was created.
For a complete specification of trueSpace4.3, please go to the link below:

Some of you might like to download and try Gamespace Light.  It's free and it's targeted towards gamemaking.
