Hi folks,

A while ago, I posted a Roulette program in the IWB section which centred on the Evens bets - Red/Black, High/Low, Odd/Even.  Here it is for Creative Basic, but this version focuses on the 2/1 odds bets - Each group of twelve numbers (1 -12), (13 - 24), (25 - 36) - and each Column of 12 numbers.

With 2/1 bets, each unit you bet wins two units, plus the unit you bet being returned of course.

The game is a challenge - to beat the Casino.  Unlikely of course, but if you're lucky, you might win.

As in all Roulette, the numbers generated are Random - so at each spin, they cannot be predicted.

It is theoretically possible to always guess correctly which Group or Column the next ball will fall into - but unlikely.  However it is possible to guess correctly quite often, and then you win in the short term.  ::)

The centre panel of the game, shows a betting sequence based on a 2/1 return.  So, if your first guess fails, you up your stake to the next bet level, and try again. If that one wins, you finish up ahead of the game.

Of course, if you get a long run of failed guesses, your Bankroll becomes exhausted - and you've lost  :o

One thing in your favour, is that you don't have to bet on each 'spin'.  You can wait until you think a favourable bet looks likely. If for instance, one Group or Column has not come up for say, 7 or 8 spins - then bet on it being the next result.  With any luck you might get it right - although dangerously long runs of losing bets are possible.

However, my latest strategy is to wait for only 4 spins that have not come up and then bet on that Group or Column.  I only follow the betting sequence  1, 1, 2 - then acknowledge that as a losing run, and start another sequence.  This seems to work out better.

The original program had an annoyng habit of crashing randomly, and I could not find the reason. I think I've now discovered why, and this version seems to be working OK ..  ;D

Best wishes, :)

GWS,

I understand the groups, the 36 numbers divided into 3 groups, but what are the columns about? Plus, isn't there a zero, or 00, on the wheel?

Hi Bill,

Visualize the typical roulette table layout - the Groups start at the top nearest the Green '0'.

Group 1 has numbers 1 to 12.  Group 2 numbers 13 to 24, and Group 3 numbers 25 to 36.

I'm using the European table layout with only the single '0' - and that pops up all too often  ::)

The Columns each run from top to bottom, with Column 1 having numbers 1 to 34 (in steps of 3), Column 2 has numbers 2 to 35 (in steps of 3), and Column 3 has numbers 3 to 36 (in steps of 3).

So for example, the number 8 is in Group 1, Column 2.

I haven't tried to incorporate wheel graphics, since the focus of the program is on a betting strategy to try to beat the random results of each spin.  So it only shows a table of the 12 previous results for each Group and Column.

You watch for a sequence of say 4 spins when a particular Group or Column has not occurred, and then start betting that it will turn up on the next spin.

It keeps track of the bets you place, Win or Lose, starting with a float of 100 units.

One betting strategy could be - First bet 1 unit. If that loses, the next bet would also be 1 unit.
If the second bet loses, the next would be 2 units, the next 3 units - and so on as listed in the centre of the screen.  Hopefully you will get a Win at some point in that sequence, leaving you with a profit.

Following a long sequence can of course break your float - so it's best to accept a losing sequence at some point, and start again.

With a bit of luck, I've found it possible to regularly double your money. ;D

Of course, lurking in the wings is the Green '0', and the statistically possible horrendously long run, where the Group or Column you are following fails to turn up. ::)

Best wishes, :)

Graham,

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Except for your game, I have not done roulette.

Bill,

That's OK .. I reckon if I ever find myself in a real casino, I might stand a chance of winniing, due to all the guessing practice I get from this game ..  ;D

I just won a virtual £50 in less than a minute by gambling £5 a spin on this game ..  ::)

Wait for 4 occasions where one of the Groups or Columns fails to turn up - and then bet on it occurring on the next spin - with a stake plan of 1 unit, if lose - another unit, and if lose again - 2 units.

Would that it would be so easy in real life.

Best wishes, :)
