Does IWB Linux version work on Rapberry Pi?

As most of you know, I have just about had it with Windows, and every thime I have tried versions of Linux, it has ended in missing drivers for my tools.
Therefore I am thinking of purchasing Raspberry Pi 4B to see if I can use it for my radio controlled SDR hobby. But then I need a decent and easy to tool for coding and maybe I'm too old for learning to use a new language. ( I'm a couple of weeks older than LarryMc  ;D  ;D )

I am told that the operating system used on the Raspberry Pi is based on Linux. And on the web there  are thousands of Raspberry Pi code snippets for what I want to do.
Therefore I wonder if someone has tried to run IWB Linux on such a setup?

If you have a large enough sd and a lot of memory in the PI you could run iwbasic under wine.
Raspian is built on Debian.
I use wine on a pc running iwlnx and iwbasic.
The linux version of iwbasic is not ready - still lots of stubs to build.
You would be better served to run everything on an older pc.

Not sure if this is any helps.

Thanks Larry!

That was very helpful. The reason why I asked is that is that Windows almost doesn't fill my needs anymore. Have tried Linux Debian and Mint, but when using my signal processing software using Wine, the system always hung up giving messages about missing drivers.
I could write my own drivers of course, but that would take a lot of work and time, even if I find out how to do it.

But for Raspberry Pi there is a lot of specialized software I can use for my radio hoobby. But so far I have been reluctant to learn a new system, and maybe a new programming language. So I'll check to see if I can use Wine also with Raspberrian. Because then I still will be able to use CB and IWB.
Most of the Pi code I've seen so far has been C++, and I haven't done C++ for more that 30 years...

Just expect everything to be very slow. Small package - Small horsepower.

Well, most of the others with the same interrests as me work on Raspberry Pi. Right now I'm in Trondheim, but when I get back home, I'll probably start the changeover. I have found several pages on the web saying that the owners run Wine on Raspberrian. So it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out how to do it. That means that I'll still be able to use CB and IWB for my coding hobby, and start experimenting with the Pi for my radio work. This way it will be easier for me to drop Windows.

I would use wine only if there's no other option, for linux and the rpi there are are several options available, there's BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 https://www.bbcbasic.co.uk/bbcsdl/ also FreeBASIC https://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32202 is available for the PI and PureBASIC has a rpi version https://www.purebasic.com/

Thanks for the suggestions!

I have never used BBC Basic or Freebasic. I have an old Purebasic license, but I never became familiar with that language. The main reason for this is thath both Creative Basic and IW Basic are easy to use and the finished products are equal, if not faster, than programs coded with other languages.
My main reason for changing the OS is that I do not like any of the newer Windows versions, and for home computer fans wanting to change OS there is really not many options. I have to choose between a Mac or a Raspberry Pi. Other systems are way out of my league when it comes to costs.

For a Mac there is almost no decent software on the marked suitable for my radio work. I could code my own radio software though, but since the prices for a new machine is rather high, I'm reluctant to buy one.

That leaves me with Raspberry Pi. Reasonable prices and tons of specialized radio software made by other radio enthusiasts. And since 95% of my  computer work is radio related, the choice is rather easy.
And since my pcs still are alive, and whithout problems, I am not in a hurry. But during the coming winter I will slowly change to Raspberry Pi.
But then I have to use Wine to be able to use the coding tools I am used to until the IWB Linux version is working properly.

it's your choice, but you should seriously consider not using wine, wine is ok if you need to run a certain program that's windows only but it's a convoluted idea to use wine to develop software for Linux
the Purebasic license is perpetual, that includes the pi versions
also, the gambas interpreter should be available for the pi https://gambas.sourceforge.net/en/main.html

OKay, we're really pushing the limit by promoting a competitor's software in our forum.

LarryMc:
Sorry about that, it's not what we meant it to be. It seems that srvaldez and I only agree on one single thing: we strongly disagree. I can live with that.
And it should be clear from these postings what I mean.

srvaldez:
I've tried Linux a few times, running it both with and without Wine. The results were about the same as they are under Windows. A rather slow machine runs very slowly under Wine, while with a fast machine with a large capacity I could not see any difference in performance between Windows and Linux.

And even If I change to Raspberry Pi, my two Windows computers will hopefully still be working for a long time, running my radio decoding software and the IWB languages on Windows.
And maybe I'm lucky and find that IWB is up and running under Linux, when its time to get rid of the two Windows machines? I cross my fingers here...
