General Questions / Re: Any fix soon for IWB file ...

I actually have 2 instances of IWB installed.  One for a large multi program setup as a project and the other one to do all the other simpler programs.  Both work fine and I have no problems, but like I said, I run win 10 pro, so maybe there is a difference between pro and home.

I'm running Win10 Pro with IWBASIC ver 3.05 and haven't had any problems.  I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled IWBASIC either.  The programs that it produces seem to run fine on other Windows computers too.  At least my customers haven't said anything about them not workinging.

I do check in once in awhile here.  I haven't made another program for awhile so I haven't needed to reference this site as much.

General Questions / Accessing hidden directories
Last post by billhsln - February 08, 2024, 02:42:17 PM
I am using a modified version of the IWB Cleaner program to scan thru the subdirectories in a hidden directory and telling it to scan all the subdirectories looking for large files.  I was going to delete them and the subdirectories they are in.  However, IWB does not seem to allow it to go thru the subdirectories, there is an error, no idea what it is.

I am initially searching for PDF and MP4 files, since they are the biggest files, I get normally.  After the initial PDF/MP4 files, I will then add logic to just pull files greater than 2 Meg.

MailBird.ini =

1
C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Local\Mailbird\Store\A

The program is not complete, since I can't seem to get it to scan the subdirectories.

Thanks for any help,
Bill

I also wonder if it could be something to do with the difference between Win 10 Home vs Win 10 Pro (I run pro).  I haven't had any problems, but since I want a new laptop (smaller and less weight, but more ram and faster), I really need IWB to work.  I seriously have at least 15 programs that I use daily for work (IWB using ODBC connection to an iSeries).  Then there are all the other little utilities I use for various things.  I really don't want to have to learn another language, especially when IWB is such a great and easy language to learn with a great bunch of people who we can go to for help.  Each of us seems to have a different skill set, which is great because we can help each other out.  We also have a forum which we can use as a reference when we forget how to do things.

I think 2.09 is prior to Sapiro's changes.
Gives me another looking point.

General Questions / Steve Boothman's Control Pak
Last post by Brian - February 04, 2024, 08:05:18 AM
Does anyone have a copy of Steve Boothman's (bevets) Control Pak? I have it installed, but I think mine must be a bit out of date, as I have run into problems in programs running some of his code - some of the calls are not supported in my version. Send me a PM if you can help

Many thanks,

Brian

I know that Bill H would like to buy a new Laptop with Windows 11 on, but he daren't do it in case IWB doesn't play ball. He writes a lot of utilities for his work with IWB. And I also would like a new Desktop . . .

Brian

I have already sent a PM to Bill telling him about my results.

Thanks Larry.
Since I posted my question I have been experimenting with the different versions of IWB:

I have downloaded and saved all the versions of EB and IWB since I first purchased EB.
So what I did today was first to uninstall the latest IWB version (3.05) and delete all tracks of it on my win10 tabletop,on which IWB first started to crash when I tried to load in source files in the editor.
Then I reinstalled version 3.05 without any luck. I repeated this for all the 3.0x versions, but with the same result.
Then I installed IWB v.2.09, and things seem to work as normal. Have been loading and compiling most all the examples that came with the package plus a couple of my own programs. And everything works as intended.

Then I did the same with my Windows 11 laptop, on which IWB never worked as intended. With the same good result.

So while we wait for Larry to do the hard work, maybe version 2.09 can be made avalable for those that have not saved it and have problems with version 3.0x?
As far as I remember the differenses for us users were minimal, so maybe v.2.09 can help reducing the problems. At least it did for me.

Egil

I am working on it but slowly.
Need to update some of the code it relies on.
Problem is that I need to boot an xp version and migrate it to a later version of windoz.
Problem there is that at each step I need to recompile with later version of vscode.
At each step new errors appear.
I am not a Windoz person and I am running it in Wine on Linux.

Enough of my issues. I am working on it.
