Title: CBasic purchase and free versions
Post by: Ziad Diab Electronics on May 09, 2017, 11:50:11 PM
Hello every body ...

Is the CBasic still for sale or it is discontinued in 2015 ?
The free 1.0 version is for commercial use ?
What is the advantages of Aurora over Code:Blocks ?
Is there any USB HID commands in CBasic or Aurora ?

Thank you all for reading or answering ...

I know that VB community is free for commercial use but it is too heavy on the PC, I don't need all than fancy looking VB, I just want a simple compiler .... Just found CBasic ... Thanks Mr. Larry ...  8)

Hi Ziab,

There is a free version of Creative Basic available here ..  :)

http://www.ionicwind.com/forums/index.php?topic=5560.0 (http://www.ionicwind.com/forums/index.php?topic=5560.0)

Use it for whatever you wish ..

HID devices like mice, keyboard and game controllers can be programmed within CBasic, and all API's are easily available.

I don't know much about Aurora, but I believe all development has stopped.

Best wishes, :)

Graham

Hi ...

The free version doesn't have a dialog editor ...

Is the new version still for sale or discontinued ?

Thank you

Sure it does - from the menu bar, choose 'New - GUI/ Dialog Editor'  ;D

I never use it myself - it's just as easy to define each control that you need straight into a program. Then it's very easy to click the green 'GO' arrow and try out your layout.

To change size, position, colour etc. just modify the appropriate values directly and try it again.

You soon get into that way of working.  Of course, you can use the GUI Editor if you prefer.

Get used to using the 'Help- User Guide' system.  For the above question, typing Dialog into the Index tab would have given you the information you required.

I still use version 1.0, which has been thoroughly tested over many years.  The latest version had small variations to do with Microsoft's later OS's being fussy where you set up your software - plus a few other small changes which were not as well tested and might cause problems.

Version 1.15 is available if you wish to purchase it.

all the best, :)

Graham

But you can create an EXE although it is still an  interpretive language.

If you desire a compiled BASIC type language then you should look at IWBasic.

Hello ...

The problem was that CBasic was not ran as administator, the exe was now created.

Thank you ...
