Title: Long Live IBasic
Post by: GWS on March 23, 2011, 03:55:55 AM
Hi,

I've just noticed that the Learning Edition of IBasic (version 2.02D) is still on-line ..  :o

This was the free edition, intended to get schools and beginners interested in programming using Basic.

Although Creative Basic is now the current version, it's interesting to see how long-lived the old IBasic has been.

It is still getting downloads, and is still used occasionally by some on the CodingMonkeys site.

Perhaps we need a few more signposts to the IonicWind site, to encourage them to get the latest edition - although there's not much difference between them - mainly just the code filetype change from .iba to .cba

best wishes, :)

Graham

There is a difference - positive - Creative is faster then IBasic Standard.

Yep, and I've done some checking to find two other differences ..

'Some features mentioned in the users guide are not available with the IBasic Learning Edition.'

and also you can't make an .exe from the code.  So it's somewhat limited.

Best to use Creative - but it shows how persistent the language has become.

best wishes, :)
