Title: ubuntu 7.04
Post by: Rock Ridge Farm (Larry) on June 03, 2007, 08:00:16 PM
I loaded 7.04 and am having some problems getting files.
apt-get install nasm produces:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package nasm
Anyone else using this release? Having any problems?

You probably don't have the universe and multiverse repositories added to your sources list.

Have a look at your "settings" menu option in Synaptic to make sure you have full access to all of the packages.

Paul - the menus are not even the same as the page you referenced.
I guess 7.04 is that much different.
I could not find the previous version to load - have it on another computer and everything works there.

Yes but if you read the page the command line will still be the same.  And there has to be an option in Synaptic to set the repositories or the program wouldn't be able to funciton.

I don't use apt-get myself, much prefer just checking the box next to the package I want and clicking 'apply'

If you installed it from the CD you do have to enable the other two repositories yourself, they are not included on CD but use internet servers to push the packages.

Paul.

Larry,
I've read elsewhere that you have it figurd out, but figured I would add this just in case someone else has a problem.

From the synaptic menu, choose:
Settings ---->Repositories

Screenie attached.

Got most figured out - now just missing an x11 library and have not found it yet.
